Chris Colbert Looking to Beat Down Frank Martin at 135!
If given his way, super featherweight fighter Chris “Primetime” Colbert (16-1, 6 KO’s) is looking to rebound in style. In this last match, Primetime suffered an unexpected and embarrassing loss at the hands of Hector Luis Garcia. Yet, while he was under the radar before his dustup with Colbert, Garcia has gone on to capture the WBA 130-pound title from Roger Gutierrez. Nevertheless, Primetime would love to return to the ring in a standout duel. In his perception, the perfect foil for such a bout would be against rising lightweight contender Frank “The Ghost” Martin (16-0, 12 KO’s).
GHOSTBUSTER?!
Colbert, 26, has called out Martin before but, as he recently explained to media members, this is worthy enough to leave his division for.
“I’m Primetime, he’s Frank Martin […], his name is buzzing right now. My name always been buzzing; win, lose or draw, my name is still going to be buzzing…I’m going to go to 135, just beat the shit out of Frank Martin, take Errol Spence money, and then go from there!”
There is no doubt that hopping up a division to topple Frank Martin, #14 (WBC), would earn Colbert a wealth of kudos. This is due to not only being a great bounce back match, but he would put the first blemish on his record. On the flipside however, if Primetime were to lose, he’d be a back-to-back loser and in a whole new world of trouble and speculation. So let’s see if Martin, 27, takes the bait and pens a duel with Chris Colbert.
