Terence Crawford Coming to Claim his Respect from Errol Spence Jr.!
Inside the ring, unified welterweight champion Errol “The Truth” Spence Jr. (28-0, 22 KO’s) and WBO 147-pound champion Terence “Bud” Crawford (39-0, 30 KO’s) are cold, vicious and mean. Crafty and capable for sure, but above all else, they are cruel and merciless with every intention of seriously physically hurting their opposition. And the boxing world was just given the first taste of things to come at the opening presser for this tremendous July 29 prizefight.
For his part, Crawford, 35, is dog-tired of hearing that he has a lackluster resume. After all, his record holds him to be undefeated, undisputed at super lightweight and having stopped all his welterweight foes. Nevertheless, he is constantly told he hasn’t fought anyone of note. It’s an old line that even Spence, 33, tossed at him during the broadcast. So, it should come as no surprise that Bud adamantly promised to pound some reverence into Spence.
“They’re going to say Bud Crawford is special. And all the people that thought [Spence] was going to do what he say he was going to do, they are going to say, ‘wow, we were wrong about that kid. He is special, he is great.’ That’s what they are going to walk away saying. And he will give me my respect after the fight.”
Bud had additional words to share with the unified champion on the matter.
“I’m talking about when I whoop that ass; you’re going to really give me that respect!”
The outcome of their July 29 is wildly up in the air. That said, it’s almost guaranteed that we have an instant classic on our hands. Fans will finally find out if The Truth’s non-stopped onslaught of brutality will miraculously force Crawford to wilt under pressure, or if Bud’s versatile style and superior wit will carry him to victory for the fortieth time in his career. It certainly will be a delight to have these questions answered with knuckles and blood. Even better, 3Kings Boxing will be here to narrate the news all the way to fight night.
