With the rematch against two-time heavyweight champion Anthony “AJ” Joshua possibly next, IBF heavyweight champion Daniel “Dynamite” Dubois will have to prove the first fight wasn’t a fluke. Dynamite should be considered the heavy favorite in the rematch and could win by stoppage a second time.

On September 21, Dynamite (22-2, 20KO) shocked the boxing world with a career performance that saw him stop AJ (28-4, 25KO) in the fifth round. The boxing public still talks about how he dominated the two-time champion from the opening bell.

Matchroom Boxing’s Chairman Eddie Hearn stated that Joshua should explore other options first before taking a rematch. In an interview with TalkSport, he revealed that Saudia power player Turki Alalshikh wants the rematch.

“In our meetings with his excellency, they want the rematch. His excellency wants to make the rematch.”

HE CAN WIN BY KNOCKOUT AGAIN

If they were to have a rematch some may believe Joshua would have the advantage. He has the experience and is 1-1 when it comes to fighting in rematches. Yet, father time may have caught up to the two-time champion as his punch resistance and reflexes aren’t the same.

Despite never fighting in a rematch, in this author’s opinion Dubois has a high chance of winning by knockout again. It is hard to repeat the type of performance we saw from him that night. However, this version of the IBF champion has displayed totally different mindset while shaking off the quitter tag.

Dubois showed an improved skill set using the jab to set up other punches. In addition, his aggressive nature in the first fight is what could be the key factor in the rematch. Plus, he now that Joshua can be hurt early and needs more time to recover than before.
