Jose Ramirez will defend his title against #3 ranked Antonio Orozco
The fight will take place in Fresno, California from Fresno State University’s SaveMart Center.
While Orozco is a more credible opponent than Danny O’Connor it should be pointed out that he’s had trouble making weight in 2 of his last 3 fights.
He was rushed to the hospital for severe dehydration when he was scheduled to face Fidel Magdaleno in 2016. He also missed weight for a fight with Roberto Ortiz last year.
Let’s hope Orozco can safely make weight and give Ramirez a good fight.
It’s safe to assume that Bob Arum will have a backup opponent in case the worse case scenario happens again to Ramirez.
