Daniel Dubois Bloodies Filip Hrgovic and Wins By Stoppage
In a heavyweight showdown, Daniel “Dynamite” Dubois (21-2, 19KO) scored an impressive stoppage over Filip “El Animal” Hrgovic (17-1, 14KO).
Hrgovic couldn’t miss with the right hand as he landed it repeatedly while Dubois kept his head on the centerline. He was very aggressive early, believing that Dynamite would fold like he claimed happened in a sparring session.
Despite getting hit with hard right hands, Dubois worked well behind a stiff jab that opened up a cut on El Animal’s right eye. In the middle rounds, Dubois started to land triple left-hand shots. He even opened up a second cut on the left eye as the bloody Croatian looked tired.
The Brit cranked up the offense and started to land shots at will. He went into beast mode and land rights and lefts as Hrgovic offered little resistance. After getting hit repeatedly by Dubois, Hrgovic was taken to the corner by the referee. There, the doctor stopped the fight due to cuts in the eighth round.
It was another good victory and great performance for Dubois, who picked up the IBF interim title. In addition, he could fight two-time unified champion Anthony Joshua for the world title.
