Dmitry Bivol Dominates Malik Zinad En Route to a Stoppage Win
WBA light heavyweight champion Dmitry Bivol (22-0, 11KO) scored a long overdue stoppage against Malik Zinad (22-1, 16KO).
An uncharacteristicly aggressive Bivol came out behind that jab and landed a hard left-right combination that dropped Zinad in the first round. As the fight continued, he kept walking down the Libyan with different variations of the jab to the body and head.
In the middle rounds, Zinad landed a couple of straight right hands. He even frustrated the WBA champ by giving him a headbutt. It seemed to have angered Bivol, who came out extremely aggressive in the sixth round. He landed a barrage of hard shots that put Zinad on wobbly legs against the ropes.
The referee stopped the fight after witnessing Bivol land hard shots, repeatedly. This version of the Russian was a pleasure to watch, as he hasn’t scored a knock since 2018.
During the post-fight interview, fans learned the fight for undisputed against unified champion Artur Beterbiev will happen in October.
