Angel Garcia Says Danny has Erislandy Lara Next on his Hitlist!

In his next match, two-division champion Danny “Swift” Garcia (36-3, 21 KO’s) will make his debut in the super welterweight division. During that maiden voyage at the new weight, Garcia will take on the challenge of “Merciless” Jose Benavidez Jr (27-1-1, 18 KO’s). It’s a serious fight as Benavidez is the naturally bigger man who also packs a decent punch. Coming from a fighting family, his chief second is his father, Jose Benavidez, who also trains his other son, two-time WBC super middleweight champion David Benavidez.

As one would assume, Team Garcia is remarkably confident as they head into this next campaign of war. In fact, while they are not overlooking Benavidez Jr, in an interview with ThaBoxingVoice, Swift’s father and trainer, Angel Garcia, let it be known they already have their next desired opponent in mind. Provided that everything goes right with Jose Benavidez Jr, they would love to dance with regular WBA middleweight champion Erislandy “The American Dream” Lara (29-3-3, 17 KO’s).

“Like Danny said, he wants the Cuban, Lara. He called Danny out on a catchweight for the middleweight title, why not?! It’s a good fight for Danny.”

BITING OFF TOO MUCH?!

This is very interesting considering that Swift is moving up in his next fight. Yet by the sound of this quote, he is willing to immediately go up in weight yet again. While it all sounds great, we must first wait and see how Garcia handles himself in the ring versus Joes Benavidez Jr. This is because, as all true boxing fans understand, overlooking an adversary can oftentimes become a disastrous blunder!
