David Benavidez is Confident He Can Exploit Weaknesses in David Morrell
Two-time WBC 168-pound champion David “The Mexican Monster” Benavidez (27-0, 23 KOs) is as confident as any fighter in boxing today. The hard-hitter is still riding high off his big win over rival Caleb Plant back in March. More recently, he’s been linked to a very intriguing fight with WBA Regular champion David Morrell (9-0, 8 KOs).
Benavidez has denied recent reports that he and Morrell have agreed to fight in either October or November. Regardless, The Mexican Monster is confident that when it does happen, he’ll be more than prepared for what the Cuban star has to offer.
Speaking to Fighthype.com, Benavidez said the following:
“He could have all the experience in the world; he’s not going to beat me, ever. I don’t think he’s experienced; he’s a good fighter, he’s been boxing for a long time.”
Benavidez is confident he can use Morrell’s aggression against him. He added:
“With him, he throws more with bad intentions, but he leaves himself open too. And I’m a good counterpuncher, and I have good defense too. A lot of people don’t give me credit for my defense. You know, I really didn’t get hit too much by Caleb Plant. I never really get hit that much. So there’s a lot of stuff I can do right there, especially fighting a fighter like that, which is going to bring the best out of me.”
Let’s hope these two fighters formally agree to fight each other. It has Fight of the Year written all over it!
