Gervonta Davis Laughs at Tevin Farmer’s Defeat

If the rest of the 2020 year in boxing continues the way things are going now, then fans will be pleasantly surprised with all the fighters stepping out of the shadows and moving to the forefront, energizing the boxing community.

Newly crowned IBF junior lightweight champion Joseph “JoJo” Diaz proved the third time was a charm defeating Tevin “American Idol” Farmer. In a spectacular performance, he overcame the early adversity of suffering a nasty cut over the left eyelid.

However, there was one person in particular that was paying close attention to this fight. WBA “regular” lightweight champion Gervonta “Tank” Davis has been in a long public beef with the former Philadelphia champion.

These two guys have been going hard at each other. Furthermore, the boxing community thought we had a fight when British promoter Eddie Hearn made an offer to Tank to fight the rival IBF champion. Like everything else, it never materialized and the Baltimore power puncher moved up, killing all potential for a huge unification bout.

Considering the extreme dislike both men have for each other, Tank’s response to Farmer’s loss should come as no surprise. Upon Farmer losing the title, Davis took one last shot at his rival.

Besides the obvious, the WBA champion has a point. Leading up to the fight, Farmer was very dismissive towards his opponent. This is strange considering the experience JoJo has at the championship level.

This should serve as a firm notice to all the fans and fighters as a lesson this year. These challengers are hungry, fearless and determined to dethrone whoever holds the spotlight.
