One fighter that needs to make a splash in 2026 is multi-divisional champion Gervonta “Tank” Davis. He should target WBO junior welterweight champion, “The Takeover” Teofimo Lopez, vs WBC lightweight champion Shakur “Fearless” Stevenson winner.
Boxing enthusiasts are optimistic that the sport has the potential to make a strong comeback after an abysmal 2025. Lopez vs. Stevenson, along with several other high-profile fights, have ignited a spark within the boxing community.
Several fans and pundits believe he should have been given his first career defeat after taking a knee against Lamont Roach Jr. He didn’t due himself any favors by looking to fight Jake Paul over the Roach rematch, only to blow that fight as well. Tank needs to redeem himself, and a fight against The Takeover vs Fearless should be a top priority for Team Davis.
In this author’s opinion,Davis vs. either Lopez or Stevenson can be considered a super-fight. Bottom line is Tank can’t afford another bad year and must face a top-level opponent in 2026.
