Andrade Still Open for Charlo Fight
Among all the immense talent within the 160lbs landscape, one of the more tantalizing bouts would pit WBO world middleweight champion Demetrius “Boo Boo” Andrade (29-0, 18 KO’s) against WBC world middleweight champion Jermall “Hit Man” Charlo (30-0, 22 KO’s). Not only has this match-up been discussed, late last year it appeared as if some traction was being made.
Sadly, nothing has ever materialized out of this intriguing pairing of fighters. That does not mean that nothing could happen, however. While talking with iFL TV, Andrade expressed still being very open to staging a dust-up with the elder twin.
[When asked if he was willing to face Charlo] “Yeah, of course! I think Charlo got the WBC to unify the 160 division. That’d be cool, I’m down for whatever. I haven’t turned it down. The reason why Eddie Hearn was even able to be like, ‘we’ll fight the Charlo’s’ is because my mindset is to say ‘yeah, I’ll fight him!’ It’s a fight, let’s fight! What he offered, seven million dollars? That’s a lot of money, why not?!”
AND THE BEAT GOES ON
Obviously Andrade v Charlo is one of the most palatable prizefights to be made in the division. However, if that cannot be stitched together, then life must go on. If not Charlo, then Boo Boo would be forced to turn his attention to his mandatory challenger Liam “The Machine” Williams (22-2-1, 17 KO’s). Yet, clearly he has not begun focusing on the Machine just yet!
“Until it’s real, until it’s time for me to get focused on whoever the opponent that’s in front of me, then I will tune in to that. Like I tell everybody that got in the position to fight me, ‘good luck, train hard, bring you’re A-game!” People get up for Demetrius Andrade, I get up because I love to fight.”
