Devin Haney the Philanthropist!
Generally speaking, when boxing fans view fighters, it’s only through a lens of competition. The fans want to make sure their favorite pugilists are living like fighters, training and staying out of trouble. Beyond that, the average boxing fan doesn’t put much more thought into how boxers live their actual lives.
THE FRIENDLY SIDE OF A FIGHTER
The fighter’s romantic status, home living situation, political views and altruistic endeavors, for example, often go unnoticed. This is a sentiment that WBC world lightweight champion Devin “The Dream” Haney (24-0, 15 KO’s) can fully empathize with. The well-seasoned young boxer has regularly given to charities and those in need for some time.
On a recent philanthropic session, Haney took the time to post the event on his Instagram account. The boxer turned businessman expressed how important it is for him to spread the wealth around. He does this to help ease the immediate need for food and basic survival items as well as inspiring others.
IF IT BLEEDS IT LEADS
Despite frequently committing to charitable deeds, Haney realizes that most of the boxing fans will never see this side of him. Nor will many care.
If a fighter is unruly in public, caught intoxicated, or slapping around their significant other this will certainly make the headlines. This is an unfortunate reality. Thankfully, this form of apathy will not dissuade The Dream from assisting those in the community who find themselves in bad times.
Prior to the following post on social media, Haney also shared a post where he was seen giving out food to some folks on Skid Row. When the food supplies were totally depleted, the Dream dispensed cash to those who did not receive any vitals. Several days later, he was seen handing out sleeping bags and tents to those without proper lodging to reside in.
Truly an admirable act by the 21 year old phenom who also has a illustrious career ahead of him.
