Former WBA super champion Yunier Dorticos eyeing revenge on former foe
Dorticos (22-1, 21KOs) who lost his WBA cruiserweight title to Murat Gassiev in their unification bout in the semifinals of the world boxing super series is ready to return.
Although known for his power, Dorticos was unable to effectively set up anything offensively. To his credit, he’s acknowledged that he went into the Gassiev fight with the wrong game plan.
This is what he had to say about his performance against Gassiev:
“I was too greedy [with looking for a knockout against Gassiev]. I focused on greed, on winning at all costs. You can not be greedy and want to solve everything in a single round. You have to always leave something and let the knockout come on it’s own.”
With that all behind him, he’s now ready for a rematch with Gassiev. He also mentioned his willingness to move up to heavyweight to face cruiserweight king Oleksandr Usyk. Even further, he mentioned possible showdowns with heavyweight champions Anthony Joshua and Deontay Wilder.
