Daniel Dubois v Joe Joyce will try to knock each other out April 11!

To the delight of fans on two continents, Daniel “Dynamite” Dubois (14-0, 13 KO’s) versus Joe “Juggernaut” Joyce (10-0, 9 KO’s) is a done deal! The intriguing heavyweight showdown will take place on April 11 at the O2 Arena located in Greenwich, London and will air live on ESPN+.

ORIGIN OF A GREAT PRIZEFIGHT

This bout really began gaining traction following Dubois’, 22, December 21, 2019 bout with Kyotaro Fujimoto. Following the second round decimation, both Dubois and his promoter, Frank Warren, along with Joyce and his manager, Sam Jones, were on hand and went head-to-head on camera. There, on live television, it was proposed that the two swiftly rising heavyweights should fight one another as soon as possible.

At the time Joyce, 34, had a scheduled bout with Marco “Kapt’n” Huck. However, unfortunately for Team Huck, the Kapt’n suffered an injury in camp and was forced to withdraw. Suddenly, left with no dance partner, Joyce was suddenly available for the mouthwatering prizefight with Dubois.

The bout is unique for the fact that the two prospects are so early in their careers. In this modern age of acutely business savvy boxers, generally speaking, a fight this dangerous is allowed to ‘marinate’ into a bigger event. Clearly wanting no part of that, and earnestly believing in their own capabilities, both Dubois and Joyce jumped at the chance to take the others’ head off.

EVERYONE TALKING KO

While at the first official presser to announce the exciting event, neither fighter held their tongue!

“It’s a massive fight and I can’t wait to knock him out, it’s as simple as that!

“As you say, talk is cheap. You know, it’s a 50/50 fight, he can bang, you know I rate him. You’re on the way up but maybe you’re not ready for me and you’re going to find out.”

Joe Joyce – Top Heavyweight Contender

“This fight is definitely not going the distance. You’re [points to Joyce] getting knocked out for sure. I mean that!

“When we sparred, I was 17 years old at the time and a lot has passed between then and I’m matured now. I’m a different animal now. I’m ready for the big time and this is a step in the right direction.

“I know that they are talking a lot and making a lot of statements but on the night, I am going to prove to the world that I am one of the best in the world”
