Edgar Berlanga vs Caleb Plant Could Lead To A PBC Signing

Top-rated super middleweight contender Edgar “The Chosen One” Berlanga (23-1, 18KO) needs a new home. His desire to send former champion Caleb “Sweet Hands” Plant (23-2, 14KO) out of the sport could result in signing with Premier Boxing Champions.

The Chosen One took on a laughable opponent in Jonathan Ortiz, who looked like the Pillsbury Doughboy. Nonetheless, he attacked with hard shots and steamrolled over Ortiz in one round.

Why Berlanga is leaving Matchroom Boxing is a head scratcher, considering they got him a huge money fight with undisputed champion Saul “Canelo” Alvarez. So when looking at who Berlanga wants to fight there may only be one option.

He has put together a hitlist that includes, Jaime Munguia, Jermell Charlo, Plant, and Canelo rematch. In the post-fight interview, Berlanga focused on calling for Plant.

“He got beat up by [David] Benavidez, and Knockout by Canelo. So it’s time for me to retire him.”

Plant has been wanting to face the Puerto Rican for quite some time. Berlanga possibly inking a fight deal with PBC shouldn’t surprise anyone, considering they handle two of the fighters he called out.
