Edwin De Los Santos Wants the Elite Competition at 135

On the undercard of Jaron “Boots” Ennis – Roiman Villa, world-ranked lightweight Edwin De Los Santos (16-1, 14 KOs) was impressive in a unanimous decision over Joseph Adorno at The Boardwalk Hall in Atlantic City, New Jersey. Now De Los Santos has eyes on battling the bigger fish in the lightweight division. When asked who he would like to face next during the post-fight interview, De Los Santos said the following:

(Translated from Spanish) “I don’t care. Anybody at 135, I’ll take care of.”

READY FOR ANYONE

The 23-year-old from Santo Domingo, Dominican Republic is riding a wave of confidence. Following a decision defeat to William Foster III in January 2022, De Los Santos has come back strong. His breakthrough occurred in September 2022 when he scored a shocking third-round stoppage over previously undefeated Jose Valenzuela. Now he has this victory over Adorno.

One prominent fighter in the division that De Los Santos would love to face is the hard-hitting Isaac “Pitbull” Cruz. But according to Team De Los Santos, Cruz turned down the opportunity to fight him. Instead, Pitbull is going to fight Giovanni Cabrera on the undercard of the Errol Spence -Terence Crawford super-fight on July 29 in Las Vegas, Nevada.

As a result of his recent run of wins, Edwin De Los Santos is now ranked eighth by the WBA, ninth by the WBC, and eleventh by the IBF at 135. While the Dominican fighter is surprised over not getting the chance to fight Cruz, he continues to march forward and plug away until he gets the big fights in the lightweight division.
