Tim Tszyu Sets Signs on Canelo vs Charlo Winner Next
As the WBO junior middleweight title edges closer to his grasp, Tim “The Soul Taker” Tszyu (23-0, 17KO) is already aiming higher by targeting formidable challenges from undisputed champions Saul “Canelo” Alvarez (59-2-2, 39KO) and Jermell “Iron Man” Charlo (35-1-1, 19KO).
With the announcement of a super middleweight undisputed clash between Canelo and Charlo, the landscape shifted. As Iron Man steps into the ring against Canelo, the WBO has chosen to strip Charlo of his title, subsequently promoting Tszyu to full champion.
During the press conference held in Australia to promote the upcoming showdown, Tszyu shared his aspirations with No Limit Boxing following a potential triumph against the WBC Interim titlist.
“When you don’t hold a belt, you become high risk, low reward. When you become a full champion, you become higher reward. You attract bigger fights, you attract the bigger fighters . . . I want the big fights . . . I want the winner of Charlo-Canelo. The winner. Not the loser, winner.”
Tszyu expressed having no issue with moving up in order to make the fight.
“I’ll go up to light heavyweight if I have to, man.”
There’s no doubt that Tszyu is resolute in his pursuit of creating a lasting legacy in the sport. However, his immediate focus remains on the challenge posed by Mendoza, a task that’s far from straightforward.
