Efe Ajagba Signs to Top Rank
When it was announced that read-hot heavyweight prospect Efe Ajagba (13-0, 11 KO’s) had signed with famed boxing manager James Prince, many immediately began speculating that a change in promotional companies was next.
This due to a great deal of Prince’s boxing clients. One being former WBO featherweight champion Shakur Stevenson also housed under the Top Rank banner.
Now the Nigerian power-puncher follows suit as he joins Top Rank stable. Prior to this move, Ajagba was one of the plentiful boxers contained within the PBC troop.
Before the former soccer player turned pugilist joined the professional ranks he qualified to represent Nigeria in the 2016 Olympics. He would turn pro immediately after doing so. Since he began his career, he rapidly developed a reputation for being a murderous puncher.
“I made this decision to become a better boxer and to advance my career. That’s why I signed with James Prince and Top Rank. When I return to the ring soon, you will see a new Efe Ajagba.
“Kay Koroma and I are working on my head movement and defense as I seek to become a more well-rounded fighter.”
Without question the most notorious incident connected with his name is when his opponent, Chris Harper, fled the ring before the bout could begin rather than face Ajagba.
It will be interesting to see who the big man pens a fight with next.
