Elijah Flores Picks Up The Win Over Omar Rosario
In a welterweight showdown, prospect Elijah Flores (9-0, 3KO) picked up a solid win over Omar Rosario (13-2, 4KO) by unanimous decision.
It was a firefight early as both guys went on the attack. Flores was smooth when fighting behind the jab. His footwork was on point, and he did a good job landing a solid right hand.
Rosario, the more experienced fighter, adjusted and began attacking the body. He even managed to get the undefeated fighter to trade shots in a phonebooth.
Yet, Flores quickly turned things around by going back to using that jab. He started finding a home for the uppercut and repeatedly landed a sneaky right hook.
Although Rosario was coming forward, Flores controlled the contest fighting well off the backfoot with sharp countershots.
In the closing moments, both men fought hard until the final bell. Rosario landed a hard right hand as the crowd cheered for their fellow Puerto Rican. Yet, Flores boxed beautifully and landed the more noticeable shots down the stretch.
The judges scored it 79-73, 77-76, and 77-75 in favor of Flores, who looked impressive in a decent step-up fight.
