Jaron Ennis Stomps A Mud Hole In Eimantas Stanionis

After a few years of anticipation, once in the ring, IBF welterweight champion Jaron “Boots” Ennis (34-0, 30 KO’s) made easy work of WBA 147-pound champion Eimantas Stanionis (15-1, 9 KO’s). As he was unable to stop Boots from clowning, moving and smothering him in heavy shots from head to toe, Stanionis retired on his stool heading into the seventh.

During his post-fight interview, Ennis expressed his happiness at finally capturing a world title from another champion rather than acquiring one through a technicality. Unfortunately for the fans though, Boots remained completely cryptic when it came to the notion of what his next move would be.

“I am going to enjoy my victory, enjoy these belts, take some time with the fam, talk to the team and we are going to see what’s next.”

Along with leaving the world on a cliffhanger in regards to his next opponent, Ennis left it ambiguous as to what weight class he’ll return to. Realistically speaking though, Team Ennis will look to target WBO welterweight champion Brian “”The Assassin II” Norman Jr. (27-0, 21 KO’s). Due to having a failed fight negotiation between them, they already have a built-in back story and natural bad blood.

Norman at the moment is riding high on his March 29 third-round TKO over Derrick Cuevas. Not only this, The Assassin II has far more buzz surrounding his name than does the last remaining champion in the division – WBC welterweight champion Mario Barrios. So, for the time being, we will just have to wait and see what is officially up Jaron Ennis’s sleeve next.
