Tsendbaatar Erdenebat Remains Unbeaten Over Alberto Mercado

Lightweight prospect Tsendbaatar “Chinggis Khan” Erdenebat (10-0, 4KO) remains undefeated after defeating veteran Alberto “Transformer” Mercado (17-7-1, 4KO).

Boxing fans still remember Erdenebat as the man that hurt Ryan Garcia’s ribs in sparring ahead of the fight against Gervonta Davis. From the opening bell, Chinggis Khan was in attack mode. He used that physical strength at times to push Mercado around the ring and land hard body shots. In addition, the Mongolian proved to be more defensively sound and landed painful counterhooks.

As the fight continued, Erdenebat started finding a home for those uppercuts. Realizing Transformer couldn’t hurt him, he turned up the attack and hit the Puerto Rican with everything, including the kitchen sink.

In round three, the referee called for a break in the action as Mercado suffered a bad cut on the left eyelid. After being examined by the ring doctor, he was ruled unable to continue as blood was leaking into the eye.

Erdenebat was impressive in a decent step-up fight. His improvement in every area was on full display with another solid performance. With this fight in the books, he is looking forward to tryouts in the Olympic trial.
