Seniesa Estrada Challenges Yokasta Valle!
It looks more and more like things are pointing toward a showdown between women’s world champions Yokasta Valle and Seniesa “Superbad” Estrada (23-0, 9 KOs). On November 26, Valle (27-2, 9 KOs) defeated Evelin Bermudez to win the IBF and WBO junior flyweight titles.
An interested observer was Estrada. The reigning WBA minimumweight champion went to social media to give her take on Valle-Bermudez. A couple of things are clear. One, Estrada wants a fight with Valle. Second, she wasn’t impressed by what she was witnessing.
After her win over Bermudez, Valle told the ringside reporters that Estrada is number one on her hit list. Superbad is an ex-champion at junior flyweight. So a matchup between the two could happen at either 105 or 108.
Issues must be settled at the negotiating table to make it a reality. Golden Boy currently promotes Valle. The promotional company used to handle Estrada before they decided to split earlier this year. Estrada has since signed a multi-fight deal with Top Rank.
They are the two best fighters at 105. Valle wants to become the undisputed champion at 105. Estrada said her goal is to rule the sport from 105-112. The ladies are hungry to prove who is the boss in the lower-weight divisions
It would continue the trend of high-profile female bouts that have taken place over the past twelve months. Estrada – Valle would be a good draw in either Los Angeles or Las Vegas. The promoters are keenly aware of this. So, look for Golden Boy and Top Rank to begin discussions in early 2023. Fans of women’s boxing would love for the ladies to pit their skills against one another in the ring.
