Chris Eubank Not Dismissing a Trilogy with Liam Smith
In his immediate rematch with Liam “Beefy” Smith (33-4-1, 20 KO’s), middleweight fighter Chris Eubank Jr. (33-3, 24 KO’s) secured the victory that eluded him in their premiere encounter. Back on January 21, Smith somewhat surprisingly stopped Eubank Jr. in the fourth round of their dustup. Now, he’s returned the favor by forcing a tenth round TKO of his own. Naturally, the question looms: will they stage a trilogy bout to achieve a definitive conclusion?

When posed with inquiry, Eubank Jr. expressed his willingness to go ahead with the rubber match.
“It is one-one. If the fans want to see a third fight, you know what I mean, I never back down from a challenge.”
SOMETHING OLD OR SOMETHING NEW?
To his credit, Eubank Jr. has always been happy to declare his superiority over Smith. Even following his stoppage loss, he never wavered from his talking point of being the better fighter. This is said to say, if left up to him, he likely moves on to bigger fish to fry. In his post-fight interview, he called out both, former world champion Kell Brook and rising talent Conor Benn.
If given his choice, Eubank Jr. would certainly take on one of these two rather than dance with Beefy for a third time. Yet, for the time being, we will just have to wait and see how the backroom politics of boxing resolve themselves. Regardless of the ultimate outcome, stay tuned to 3Kings Boxing for all the late breaking news.
