A big domestic showdown between two former world title challengers and middleweight contenders is going down on December 11! Chris Eubank Jr (31-2, 23KOs) will face Liam “The Machine” Williams (23-3-1, 18KOs) in a key fight at middleweight.

These two are familiar with each other and aren’t too pleasant with one another, The Machine has twice called for a fight with Eubank Jr this year. In doing so, he was very clear with his words and confident of victory. Williams, who challenged for the WBO middleweight title in April, coming up short against Demetrius Andrade, is looking to get right back into title contention with a win over Eubank Jr. Currently, Williams is ranked #6 in the WBA and WBC and #7 in the WBO.
His counterpart, Eubank Jr, is seeking relevancy at middleweight and a world title opportunity. Furthermore the #1 ranked WBA and #3 WBC contender knows a win over a tough, rugged fighter like Williams in impressive fashion will go a long way in how he’s viewed by fight fans. In his last ring outing, he would easily demolish unknown Wanik Awdijan in five rounds in October. Prior to that bout, he won a unanimous decision over Marcus Morrison in May.
A win over Williams would make the him 3-0 in 2021, giving him some much needed momentum headed into 2022. More importantly for him is he’s extremely close to a world title opportunity as he’s ranked number one in the WBA. A loss here would be very detrimental to his career and confidence.
This is a solid bout that should provide good action and a litmus test for both men. Both are top middleweight contenders, but can either man perform well enough to elevate themselves to be viewed as true threats to the middleweight champions in the division? We certainly will find out on December 11.
