Rodriguez will attempt to make his first defense of IBF title!
There is an fight taking place October 20 that is getting little recognition, but will have a major impact on the World Boxing Super Series tournament.
It’s the battle of the young and undefeated as IBF Bantamweight champion Emmanuel Rodriguez (18-0, 12KO) will put everything on the line against Jason Moloney (17-0, 14KO).
Rodriguez, a 26 year-old Puerto Rican boxer, will try to make a statement as many people have overlooked him. With names like Ryan Burnett, Naoya Inoue and Zolani Tete in the tournament, he will need to make a lasting impact in this fight.
It’s easy to see how this the champion’s name can go under the radar. However, all that can change with an impressive victory. Proving himself is something the young champion is used to. Traveling to the U.K to win the title against Paul Butler was a major accomplishment.
Moloney, 27 year-old Australian fighter, is currently the WBA Oceania Bantamweight champion looking to make the upset.
A victory will put his name on the minds of fans while looking down the line at bigger opportunities in this tournament. Boasting an eighty-two percent knock out ratio will have the power edge in this contest.
Rodriguez has won a title, minor or world, from all four major sanctioning bodies in his career.
This bout will mark the U.S debut for Moloney.
This contest will take place at the CFE Arena, in Orlando, Florida. Fight time will be 6:00 PM ET / 11:00 PM BST.
