Filip Hrgovic Eyeing Rematch With Daniel Dubois
In a brutal crossroad heavyweight battle, Filip “El Animal” Hrgovic (18-1, 14KO) revitalized his career and wants a rematch with two-time and current IBF champion Daniel “Dynamite” Dubois (22-2, 21KO).
El Animal is coming off a big win against “Juggernaut” Joe Joyce in a hard-hitting back-and-forth brawl. Both men went to work early with hard shots sending the crows into a frenzy. The Juggernaut fought strong in the first half, but Hrgovic found a second gear and was landing the right hand at will.
In the end, the judge’s scorecards were 98-92, 97-93, and 96-95 in favor of Hrgovic by unanimous decision. Now, back in the hunt for a world title shot, the Croatian called for a rematch against Dubois.
During the in-ring post-fight interview, Hrgovic explained why a Dubois rematch makes sense.
“This guy [Joyce] beat Dubois, and I beat him. So, I want a rematch with Daniel Dubois. I did very bad in my last fight … Of course, I would like to have a rematch one day.”
Joyce forced Dubois to quit back in 2020, and the two-time champion, Dynamite, has been on a serious run since. Hrgovic sole defeat came at the hands of the British champion in another hard-punching brawl in 2024.
So, if the fight for undisputed doesn’t take place, a showdown with Hrgovic would be a welcomed fight by the fans.
