Andrzej Fonfara vs Edwin Rodriguez crusierweight battle set for Porter vs Ugas under-card.
Two former light heavyweight contenders will meet as heavier men when they step in the ring March 9.
Andrzej Fonfara and Edwin Rodriguez will clash in a true crossroads fight. Both of these men have faced solid competition throughout their careers.
In his lone world title opportunity, Rodriguez (30-2, 20KO) went up against the now-retired multi-weight champion Andre Ward, where he would lose a one-sided decision. His only other loss came in brutal fashion, where he was stopped in one round by Thomas Williams Jr in 2016.
Fonfara (30-5, 18KO) is an exciting fighter that has challenged for the WBC light heavyweight championship twice. He lost both times to former champion Adonis Stevenson. He is also responsible for putting contender Joe Smith Jr on the map with a first round loss in 2016.
His wins are just as notable as his defeats. Former champions Chad Dawson, Julio Cesar Chavez Jr, Glen Johnson and Nathan Cleverly all were bouts added to the win column.
This fight has war written all over it! Both men have some boxing ability, but would rather stand and trade; evident by some of their past fights. A win here for either man keeps them relevant for at least one more fight.
A loss would be a devastating blow, as it would really set either man back.
