Will Ford Get his Dance With Foster in 2025?

Raymond Ford Still Focused On Brutalizing O’Shaquie Foster

When fighter “Savage” Raymond Ford (15-1-1, 8 KO’s) next slides through the ring ropes, he will face the challenge of Orlando “Capu” Gonzalez. Despite looking to rebound from his professional loss to Nick Ball, Ford clearly still has his mind on WBC super featherweight champion O’Shaquie “Ice Water” Foster (23-3, 12 KO’s). In the past, the two have traded their fair share of words.

Unlike Ford however, Foster notched a win in his last match. Along with the victory, Ice Water also nabbed a measure of payback by beating rival Robson Conceicao in a direct rematch that he previously lost by split decision. Naturally, Foster would like to secure unification opportunities. Yet, while he does not own a title, Ford will now be campaigning at super featherweight and was only too happy to remind Foster their feud is personal.

WAS IT WRITTEN TO BE?

As Ford mentioned, the woofing and animosity between these two is nothing new. They have even flirted with the idea of mixing it up previously, even though a prizefight clearly never came to pass. Residing in the same division certainly increases the plausibility of this bout being made. Without question, it’s imperative that he perform splendidly on November 9.

Ford can ill afford any missteps when facing the #9 (WBA) ranked Gonzalez. The twice-defeated Gonzalez will enter this contest riding a five-fight, two-year winning streak. Collecting his scalp would not only get Ford back in the win column, it would likely leave him ranked very favorably in the WBA. Savage has already been ranked the #7 super featherweight by the WBC.

Following the loss to Ball, Ford is potentially one fight removed from a title shot against a talented foe with a completely built-in storyline. Bouncing back does not often get sweeter or more gift-wrapped than that! First things being first though, Ford still has to beat Gonzalez in fashion and without acquiring any major damage. Provided he does this, he and Foster could be heading toward an early or mid-year 2025 slugfest.
