O’Shaquie Foster Willing to Fight Chris Colbert Anytime!

O’Shaquie “Ice Water” Foster (19-1, 11 KOs) is a junior lightweight hungry for a big fight. Ranked number one by the WBC, the 28-year-old from Orange, Texas is coming off a decision win over Muhammadkhuja Yaqubov in March 2022 in a WBC world title eliminator. Foster wants that smoke with anyone in his division, and the only thing he’s turning down is the collar on his shirt.

That opportunity he hungers for could be a bout against ex-WBA top contender Chris “Primetime” Colbert (16-1, 6 KOs). During a training session, the media source, ThaBoxingVoice, asked Foster about Colbert. The Texan made it clear how a fight with Colbert would end up.

SAY IT WITH YOUR CHEST!

“He did a lot of talking, and he ain’t back it up in his last fight. So, he got a lot to prove […] He’s not a threat. Whenever he wants to be a threat, tell him to come see me […] I stop him, I knock him out for sure, and that’s a fact.”

Colbert has been idle since a decision loss to Hector Garcia in February 2022. At the time, many called it a shocking result. But in his next fight, Garcia defeated Roger Guiterrez to capture the WBA Super title in August 2022.

Ranked eighth by the WBA at 130, Colbert has never been shy to give an opinion. Like Foster, the 25-year-old has previously called for fights with anyone in and around the division. One would think “Primetime” would be itching to get back into world title contention.

IS IT ON THE TABLE?

A Foster-Colbert battle would be interesting. Both like to use the jab and are excellent combination punchers with decent punching power. Colbert may be physically stronger and Foster has faster feet. Due to his years fighting on SHOWTIME, Colbert is the more known commodity.

With Foster laying down the gauntlet, you would think Colbert would be interested. As of this writing, he’s yet to respond to being called out. Who knows, SHOWTIME could have a vested interest in putting the two in the ring at some point in 2023. At the very least, the hardcore sect would be interested. Nothing is outside the realm of possibility, so it’s a potential match worthy of keeping an eye on, at the very least.
