Fundora Signs To Golden Boy and Eyes Esparza Undisputed Clash
Golden Boy Promotions’ recent signing of IBF flyweight champion Gabriela “Sweet Poison” Fundora (12-0, 5KO) could be a sign the undisputed showdown with unified champion Marlen Esparza (14-1, 1KO) will take place late 2024.
There is no denying that Sweet Poison has burst onto the scene and proven to be a force of nature. She’s the recipient of the 3king Boxing 2023 Female Prospect of the Year award. On October 21, 2023, she impressed boxing fans with an outstanding performance en route to stopping then-champion Arely Mucino.
A NEW HOME
It didn’t take long for boxing fans to wonder if an undisputed showdown between Esparza and Fundora was going to take place in 2024. It seems that the fight is destined to happen following the recent news posted on social media by Golden Boy Promotions.
“Golden Boy joins forces with Sampson Boxing to co-promote IBF Flyweight World Champion, Gabriela Sweet Poison Fundora. Fundora will make her first title defense vs Christina Cruz on the televised portion of #MunguiaRyder on January 27.”

Excited about the news, Fundora took to social media with a message for the fans.
The IBF champion’s opponent, Cruz, is an undefeated fighter that holds amateur victories over the unified champion. At the age of 41 years old, this could be her only shot at a world title.
The two champions were rumored to fight in the first week of 2024. Yet, their fight didn’t materialize, prompting the WBO to order a rematch with Esparza and former champion Gabriela Alaniz. On July 8, 2023, she was given two controversial scorecards en route to collecting a third title.
With the fight for the undisputed crown likely on the horizon, boxing fans can only wait in anticipation.
