Tyson Fury Extends Tom Schwarz Another Invitation…

Tyson Has a Request Involving Tom Schwarz

Tyson Fury requests that Tom Schwarz be on his return card.

On June 15, Tyson “The Gypsy King” Fury (28-0-1, 20 KO’s) fought the completely unheard of and woefully over-matched Tom Schwarz (24-1, 16 KO’s). The match-up was deplorable to say the least as Fury beat up, bloodied and stopped Schwarz within two rounds.

Fury and his promotional team want to build his name and reputation in the states and Tom Schwarz was the perfect patsy to accomplish the task. In addition, the former champion is not in optimal shape since his near three-year layoff. The game-plan is to get him there before fighting Wilder again.

It seems the 6’9″ heavyweight was so pleased with the German pushover that he wants to add him to his next fight card.

“Tom, God bless you and listen, I want you to come to England and train with me for bit. Hopefully, we’ll try and get you on my next card and that’s a promise. I don’t say things I don’t back up.”

Actually, it’s very ironic that Fury told Schwarz that he backs up the things that he says. He said immediately after his December 2018 fight with Deontay “The Bronze Bomber” Wilder (41-0-1, 40 KO’s) that the rematch would happen next. To the dismay of many fans and Wilder himself, Team Fury decided to pick Schwarz instead.

Further, not only did the Bronze Bomber quickly supply and sign a contract for a rematch, Wilder voluntarily offered Fury a 50/50 split. At the time it appeared staging the rematch would be swift and hassle-free. That was until Fury completely reneged on his word, abandoned the rematch and signed an exclusive fight deal with ESPN.

Nevertheless, the rematch will happen in 2020. Wilder confirmed it. Bob Arum confirmed it and Fury just confirmed it in the post-fight interview after beating Schwarz. Until then, let’s just hope the opponent for the Gypsy King’s September return is a better opponent for him!

“I came here to have fun and enjoy myself. I don’t take it too seriously. I thought I put on a good show and the fans got what they paid for. Tonight was great, I will enjoy it. We will get deals done, get another fight in and then we fight Wilder next year.”
