Gabriel Rosado Wants Jaime Munguia Next!
“King” Gabriel Rosado (26-13-1, 15ko) is one of those fighters where every time you think his career is over, he finds a way of keeping his career off life support a little longer. He turned in a significant victory June 19 by knocking out undefeated WBA #7 ranked super middleweight Bektemir Melikuziev (7-1, 6ko) in the third round. He overcame adversity in the fight, getting off the canvas from a brutal body in the first round of the fight.

His career is riddled with plenty of bad decisions and stoppages while fighting some of the most recognizable names in the sport. He has shared the ring with names like Joshua Clottey, Martin Murray, Jesus Soto Karass, Willie Monroe Jr and David Lemieuxx. Rosado also tested his metal against fighters that have gained major popularity in the sport like Gennady Golovkin and Jermell Charlo.
Gabe fell short in his two championship attempts against then WBO middleweight champion Peter Quillin and WBA middleweight champion in Golovkin. In 2020, he lost a split decision against two-time middleweight champion Daniel Jacobs. Although, many felt he should have gotten the nod. Nonetheless, Rosado’s career was deemed to have been done before getting the call to fight Melikuziev.
Rosado’s monumental victory was on the undercard of former WBO junior middleweight champion Jaime Munguia’s return to face former Golovkin victim Kamil Szeremeta. During the post-fight interview, the Philadelphia fighter gave credit to his experience that carried him to victory, before calling out the main-event fighter in Munguia for a showdown.
“Experience obviously was a lot, but it was just pure heart and the will to win. I was like ‘fuck that I am not going home with an L. I am going to win this fight.’”
“You know we beat Danny Jacobs. I do not care what they say. We beat Danny Jacobs. Everybody knows and we just beat this young kid. So I am back to back coming off of strong wins. We want Munguia.”
