Robert Garcia still thinks Vasiliy Lomachenko and Mikey Garcia will meet!
Anybody still interested in a Mikey Garcia vs Vasyl Lomachenko fight?
I most certainly am, I’m not the only one either older brother and Trainer of Mikey Garcia, Robert Garcia would still like to see that fight as well.
Lomachenko is currently slated to face WBC #1 contender Luke Campbell in the fall that would see the two men fight for the crown that was vacated by Garcia.
That however didn’t stop the older Garcia from discussing a fight that many fans would still be thrilled to see happen.
“Me personally I’ve talked to Mikey and my father and it’s a fight we would prefer before anything else you know Mikey comes down to 140 and Loma would challenge himself.
“Loma is up for those big fights. The negotiations and networks, we’d have to figure that out but now that Bob Arum is allowing his fighters to fight elsewhere, it’s a start and last time I was in New York for the Crawford fight, Bob Arum called me and congratulated me and said have Mikey call me.
“I think it could be a fight that should happen. I want to see that fight as a fan myself. I love his style and challenges. Mikey would be the biggest challenge for him.“
While the fight may have to take place at junior welterweight, I’m pretty sure if both men want it to happen it will happen.
As of now things remain the same, however with Bob Arum showing that he can work Al Haymon for Wilder vs Fury 2 and Eddie Hearn for Maurice Hooker vs Jose Ramirez, this leaves fans with hope that a Garcia vs Lomachenko fight can take place as well.
