Ryan Garcia gets his wish!
It look like Ryan Garcia (18-0, 15KOs) will get his wish and is getting the push from prospect to contender as Golden Boy has tabbed Avery Sparrow (10-1, 3KOs) as his next opponent.
Sparrow is coming off of a win against ring veteran Hank Lundy in the Philadelphia native’s hometown. This will be Garcia’s toughest test so far.
The California native was originally going to fight Romero Durno (20-1, 15KOs). However, he declined, citing that he felt it should be a main event. The situation took a turn for the worse as he criticized Golden Boy and Oscar De La Hoya over social media.
This fight is on schedule for September 14 and as of this writing, a venue hasn’t been chosen for this bout. It looks like it’s time for Garcia to put up or shut up! We will see if he can live up to the expectations of his contemporaries, Shakur Stevenson and Devin Haney.
