Ryan Garcia feels confident about beating Gervonta Davis
Undefeated lightweight prospect Ryan Garcia wants a shot at WBA Super junior lightweight champion Gervonta Davis!
The California fighter was on-hand to witness Davis’ first round destruction of last minute replacement Hugo Ruiz February 9. He didn’t seemed to be overly impressed.
“It was too quick. It was alright, he [Davis] did what he needed to do.
“After seeing him fight, live in person, I’m even more confident because you can see his shots coming. He kind of telegraphs the shot, I would love that fight.”
Ryan Garcia
This would be an excellent fight if it were to happen. Garcia is in position to be a voluntary defense for Davis as he is ranked #4 by the WBA.
The 20 year-old has a window of opportunity with the recent situation of WBO President rejecting a fight between champion Masayuki Ito and Jamel Herring. Being ranked #1, he could step in take the fight.
If he wins the title, then a he would be in a prime position to make a unification bout with Davis. In this case, being ranked outside the top fifteen by the WBA wouldn’t matter.
In a perfect world this would be ideal, but it’s not always how things work in boxing! All we can do is see what happens.
