Golden Boy On ESPN Co-Main: Recap And Results

Tonight on Golden Boy Boxing on ESPN from the MGM National Harbor in Oxon Hill, MD. Avery “A+” Sparrow (8-1-3KOs)From Philadelphia,PA upset Jose “Wonder Boy” Lopez (18-1-13KOs) from Carolina, PR by unanimous decision. The co-main event bout was a 10 round Super Featherweight fight. Lopez simply didn’t seem to have an answer for Sparrow’s movement and speed.

The first round started with Sparrow moving and setting everything up behind his jab. Lopez seem hesitant to let his hands go and botheredby the awkwardness of Sparrow. The second and third roundwas pretty much more ofthe samewith Sparrow making himself a moving target pumping jabs to the body.

By the middle rounds Sparrow seemedtohaveestablished hisrange andwaslanding the cleaner more affective punches.

Lopezwasn’t able touse hisnaturaladvantagesthrough out the fightasheseemed to tryto getinside and go straight back and Sparrow exploited that. The judges scored it 96-94, 96-94, 97-93 but it looked much wider than that.
