Arum & Hearn Eyeballing Garcia/Porter?

While Showtime seems focused on Joshua/Wilder promoters and networks looking to grab lucrative welterweight showdown

Looks like Bob Arum may be at it again, as Top Rank could be expected to put in a bid to be the main promotional company for the WBC Welterweight Title bout between Shawn Porter and Danny Garcia.

The Garcia/Porter bout is set to go to purse bid this Friday according to WBC President Mauricio Sulaiman. It’s an interesting development considering both guys being under the PBC brand.

Top Rank has an exclusive deal with ESPN and if they win the bid this fight might go to either ESPN or ESPN+. They have a good budget and the fact that their doing good ratings has opened up more dates with ESPN. After the launch of ESPN+, Arum has secured even more dates for the year.

Showtime, who was thought of as the network to show the bout, seems to be putting all their eggs in one basket. Showtime really wants the showdown between Anthony Joshua and Deontay Wilder over a Garcia/Porter showdown.

Also getting in on the fun will be none other then Eddie Hearn who’s looking to secure dates for the upcoming streaming service DAZN. Hearn has a 125 million dollar budget to play with as he recently signed a 1 billion dollar, 8 year deal with the streaming service.

Promoters are jockeying for position especially Hearn and Arum as they both have a lot of dates to fill. This will help us get fights that we want and the boxers can make a little more money as well.
