Gonzalez will attempt to defend the WBC Latino title for a fourth time

3kingsboxing has learned three time champion Jhonny Gonzalez (66-10, 54KOs) will face fellow countryman Tomas Rojas (49-16, 33KOs).

Gonzalez at 37, is looking to keep his momentum going in pursuit of a world championship.

He is no stranger to big fights; having faced some of the top fighters in the division. Some of those top fighters include Gary Russell Jr., Abner Mares, Daniel Ponce De Leon and Toshiaki Nishioka.

The WBC #4 rated super-featherweight’s career has been filled with ups and downs. However, since losing a close decision to Jonathan Oquendo in 2015, he enjoys an eight fight win streak.

The 38 year-old Rojas has seen his fair share of wars and is a battle tested opponent. The former WBC champion always comes to fight; sharing the ring in with names like Shinsuke Yamanaka, Jorge Arce and Vic Darchinyan.

INTERESTING FACTS

Gonzalez lost his first two professional bouts, but has fought and won virtually every version of the WBC title.

Rojas is a former super-flyweight champion but has lost every title fight fought in the U.S.

Gonzalez will enjoy the power advantage while his opponent prospers in both height and reach. Both are identical when it comes to experience.

This will be a battle between Mexican fighters looking to make a last run in the division.

Scheduled to be televised live on Televisa Deportes, at the famous Arena Coliseo in Mexico City on October 6.
