Top middleweight contender Hamzah Sheeraz (18-0, 14KO) is gearing up for an important fight that could lead to a shot at the middleweight title. Currently ranked #5 by the WBC, #6 by the WBO, and #11 by the WBA, Sheeraz holds the WBC Silver title, which he claimed in July 2022. In his most recent outing, he delivered an impressive performance on the undercard of the Oleksandr Usyk-Daniel Dubois fight.

Williams, on the other hand, is coming off a quick second-round knockout victory in a comeback fight after suffering two consecutive losses. Despite his recent setbacks, Williams possesses valuable championship-level experience and is currently ranked #9 by the WBC.

HE IS NOT GOING TO OVERLOOK THE VETERAN FIGHTER

Sheeraz is well aware of the challenge The Machine presents and respects his hunger for victory, as stated in a media release:

“I’ve just got to go in there and do what I do best. People have got to remember though, that he [Smith] is a dangerous fighter with a lot to prove and he will come in hungry. I’ve got to prepare for the best version of Liam Williams.”

A win for the undefeated British contender could potentially position him for a title shot against either WBC champion Jermall “Hit Man” Charlo or WBO champion Janibek Alimkhanuly, a fighter often regarded as the division’s formidable force.

Notably, the WBO champion is scheduled for a unification against IBF champion Vincenzo Gaulitieri on October 14. Team Sheeraz will undoubtedly be closely monitoring this matchup, potentially eyeing the winner as their next target.
