Devin Haney and Gervonta Davis Continue the Keyboard Wars
It’s safe to say that undisputed lightweight champion Devin “The Dream” Haney (28-0, 15KOs) has no respect for Gervonta “Tank” Davis’ (27-0, 25KOs) resume. The two unbeaten fighters have a history of going back and forth on social media with insults. However, none of that has brought the two any closer to agreeing to fight each other.
THE DREAM DOESN’T RESPECT THE RESUME OF DAVIS!
Frequently active on social media, Haney took the time to respond to a comment from a fan who stated he should face Davis. Haney quickly hit back stating that Davis is never going to fight anyone. He also claims Tank has a Mickey Mouse belt and the only noteworthy name on his resume is Jose Pedraza.
Many younger fighters are often criticized for their unwillingness to face top competition. On the other hand, Haney has been consistent in his efforts to secure the biggest fights possible. He’s called out Vasyl Lomachenko, Teofimo Lopez, Ryan Garcia, and the aforementioned Davis to no avail which led to him accusing them all of ducking him.
THE DREAM V TANK SOCIAL MEDIA FIGHT!
It didn’t take too long for Davis to fire back at Haney for his comments on social media. Still, with Haney currently preparing for his rematch with Kambosos, and Davis’ next fight not determined, a matchup between these two won’t happen until 2023, if at all.
At some point, these fights will have to happen; especially if the sport of boxing is to be pushed to the forefront. Davis, seemingly a wanted man by Shakur Stevenson, Garcia and Haney, has so far only shown interest in cyber battles with each man. In today’s boxing, money seems to outweigh the pursuit of greatness, which has cost the glorious sport some major luster. There will come a time where all these guys will have to truly put up or shut up!
