Devin Haney Opens the Door for a Battle with Jack Catterall
When last serving his tour of duty, junior welterweight boxer Jack “El Gato” Catterall (30-1, 13 KO’s) collected a great win over two-time world champion Regis Prograis. With the win, he is now on the hunt for his next foe. Let former undisputed lightweight champion Devin “The Dream” Haney (31-0, 15 KO’s) tell it, Jack Catterall fits that bill like a glove.
A GENTLEMAN’S AGREEMENT
In many respects, Catterall versus Haney is a great match-up. In the opinion of the countless fans, Catterall is essentially undefeated as his loss to Josh Taylor is highly controversial. As such, El Gato is a tricky southpaw whose stock is rising. This is why Haney facing Catterall directly off the loss to Ryan Garcia would be a dangerous and impressive duel.
Neither camp nor fighter normally prescribes to warrantless gum-bumping in the public eye. Said to say, hopefully their brief public exchange will lead to tangible behind-the-scenes actions. The potential match has a bit more texture now that both Haney and Catterall have enjoyed Regis Prograis as a common opponent.
Both men dominated and dropped Prograis, but Catterall seems to have caused more damage while Haney pitched a destructive, perfect shutout. Now would be an ideal time to match their skillsets together.
