WBA junior middleweight champion Terri “Belter” Harper (13-1-1, 6KO) is excited to be sharing the ring with former undisputed welterweight champion Cecilia “The First Lady” Braekhus (37-2, 9KO).

After losing the WBC junior lightweight title to Alycia Baumgardner in 2021, Harper had a good bounce-back year in 2022. On September 24, she went to the junior middleweight division and swiftly took the title away from Hannah Rankin.

The newly crowned champion was chasing a fight with 3kingsboxing.com Female Fighter of the Year and unified champion Natasha Jonas to no avail. Harper, looking to kick this year off with an impressive title defense, is taking on the biggest challenge of her career in Braekhus.

Braekhus took a hiatus after losing the rematch for the undisputed welterweight crown against Jessica McCaskill in March 2021. In March 2022, she announced a move up to the junior middleweight division where pundits believed her chances of winning a title were very high.

In her debut fight in the new division, The First Lady defeated Marisa Joana Portillo on December 2022. Braekhus can add to her legacy by becoming a two-division champion with a victory over Harper.

Matchroom Boxing dropped the news as both fighters took to social media showering each other with praise.
