Anthony Joshua Taking Training Camp More Serious Than Ever for Return Fight

Former unified heavyweight Anthony “AJ” Joshua (24-3, 22KO), teaming up with3kingsboxing.com Trainer of the Year Derrick James, proclaimed this training camp is the most serious of his career.

The boxing community was shocked to hear Jermaine “989 Assassin” Franklin (21-1, 14KO) was picked as Joshua’s comeback opponent. The former champion is coming off two hard-fought defeats against unified champion Oleksandr Usyk.

JOSHUA IS ALL BUSINESS IN THIS TRAINING CAMP

Realizing a change of scenery was needed, the former unified champion packed his bags for Texas to train with James. During the press conference, Joshua admitted that training camp has been all business and not about enjoying his time stateside.

“I ain’t seen anything. I’m not there for anything else. I’m a serious person, I’m not there for anything else really. But one thing is for sure though, like throughout my career, I think this is the most serious time I’ve ever taken it. In terms of like my food, my sleep, the way I’m training.”

“I’m not really there to go out for coffees and talk about bullshit. I’m there to fucking work and put my head down and get ready for a fight.”

For the first time in six years, Joshua will be in a fight with no title up for grabs against 989 Assassin. In addition, AJ seems to be more serious than usual about the sport and getting back to the top of the mountain.

Fans can tune in to catch all action from the O2 Arena, live on DAZN on April 1.
