Eddie Hearn refutes report of alleged Dillian Whyte failed drug test!
Matchroom promoter Eddie Hearn has denied a report stating interim WBC heavyweight champion Dillian Whyte has failed a test with the UK Anti-Doping Agency (UKAD). The report immediately went viral so Hearn took to Twitter to do some damage control.
He stated:
“Further to reports I can confirm that both Dillian Whyte and Oscar Rivas were subject to extensive VADA and UKAD testing for their bout. Both fighters were cleared to fight by both bodies and the BBBofC.”
As for now it’s only been reported that the test in question is with UKAD and there is currently no indication of a positive test result from VADA. In Hearn’s statement, his verbiage indicated that both fighters were cleared to participate in their July 20 bout, but he doesn’t say that their test results were negative.
This could mean that while there maybe an irregularity with one of the test results, Whyte was still permitted to fight. It also might mean that since the post-fight results aren’t in yet that he chose to use proper legal terms to describe the situation thus far.
There currently hasn’t been an official statement from UKAD in response to the allegation.
As for the ramifications, it could be disastrous for Whyte because his July 20 victory secured him a position as mandatory for WBC champion Deontay Wilder. It would also deal a devastating blow to his reputation as he’s made several allegations regarding Anthony Joshua.
Whyte also has a failed drug test from 2013 so he would look very hypocritical if this new allegation was proven to be true. 3kingsboxing.com is your source for further developments on this story and all other boxing news.
