Hearn Says Whyte Has “Big” Offer on The Table

Whyte has other options

Last week readers will remember that Epic Sports won a purse bid for the Dillian Whyte vs Kubrat Pulev that was ordered by the IBF. Today however, Whyte’s promoter Eddie Hearn revealed that Whyte has received another offer for a fight.

While being asked about the Pulev fight during an interview on IFL TV Hearn said that it could happen still depending on whether Epic has secured the funds. A purse bid requires a 10% down payment once the bid is made then another 10% once it is awarded.

The bid was for $1.5 million dollars which equals $150,000 down and another $150,000 was supposed to be paid but Hearn wasn’t sure that it had been.

Hearn also said that despite rumors of the fight taking place in Pulev’s home country of Bulgaria that he believes it would happen in America.

“Everything that I’ve gathered is that the fight would be in America. Like I said I’m still trying to make sure the bid is secured, but there’s other options for Dillian as well.”

Hearn said that there was a big offer that come in today but the particulars such as the who, where and when weren’t specified.

3KingsBoxing.com has learned that the offer is for a possible bout between Whyte and Cuban heavyweight Luis Ortiz. This fight has been previously ordered by the WBC but no real talks had taken place as of yet.

It is a fight that would help clear up some debate among the top 5 heavyweights in the world. Hearn is of the perception that Whyte is currently number 3 behind Anthony Joshua and Deontay Wilder.

That’s debatable to say the least but a fight between Whyte and Ortiz, who is considered by most pundits to be a top 5 heavyweight in his own right, would go a long way in solidifying those claims by Hearn.
