Jeff Horn blows out Anthony Mundine
Former WBO welterweight champion Jeff Horn made easy work of fellow countrymen Anthony Mundine on in the early morning hours on ESPN.
In the opening round Horn came out applying pressure, swarming his opponent and forcing him to retreat backwards. Mundine tried rolling the incoming punches from Horn to no avail.
Mundine collapse to the canvas after a left hook connencted. He made an attempt to recover but the fight was waved off as the referee didn’t believe it was possible. The stoppage came at 1:33 in the first round.
Horn improves his record to (19-1-1, 13KOs) and will now look for a title opportunity heading into the new year. It’ll be interesting to see what division the former champion decides to campaign in.
As for his adversary Mundine, it’s pretty clear that at age 43, retirement should be strongly considered for a guy who’s clearly past his prime.
