Jeff Horn vs Anthony Mundine: An Showdown from Down-Under
When: Friday, November 30
Where: Suncorp Stadium, Brisbane, Australia
Network: ESPN+ – 3:30 AM ET / 7:30 AM GMT
Two former Australian world champions collide with hopes for bragging rights and another world title opportunity next year.
Former WBO welterweight champion Jeff Horn will move up to junior middleweight to challenge the more experience, former two-time super middleweight champion Anthony Mundine.
In his last fight, Horn was thoroughly defeated via ninth round TKO by arguably the pound-for-pound #1 fighter in the world, Terence Crawford. The loss cost him the WBO title he picked up after defeating Manny Pacquiao in July of 2017.
Advice for Mundine
The 43 year-old has been fighting for nearly two decades. He must be aware that a loss here could be the final nail in the coffin of his professional career.
Against Horn he’ll look to use his height advantage and boxing skills to stay on the outside. Additionally, he knows the dangers of fighting an in-fight as his opponent will look to make this a rough and rugged bout.
While Mundine possesses the experience and better skill-set between the two fighters, he’s clearly past his prime.
Advice for Horn
Fans know him for his toughness, physical strength and occasional questionable ring tactics. Against Pacquiao, he did an excellent job of apllying effective aggression. His unothodoxed style confused the nine-division champion and allowed him to steal rounds.
High volume and relentless pressure should wear the older fighter down!
Outcome:
I see the more youthful former world champion roughing up the faded former champion on his way to a clear unanimous decision in this Australian showdown.
