An easy way out?
Let’s be real here folks. The biggest reason a rematch between Gennady Golovkin and Canelo Alvarez is taking place, is because of the perceived bad “decision”.
Of course money was a factor too. But if you ask 85 percent of fans and media, they’ll tell you that Gennady Golovkin was robbed of a rightful victory.
If we’re going to be honest the first fight between Golovkin and Alvarez wasn’t exactly an instant classic. Was it a good fight? Absolutely. But the action in the ring didn’t necessarily warrant a rematch. The controversial decision led us here.
While Golovkin was clearly upset about the decision, Alvarez on the other seemed to be satisfied and content with the draw. Did he say he felt he should’ve got the win? Yes of course he did. But some people have surmised that it didn’t seem like he believed what was coming out of his own mouth. Those are just folks observation and opinions though of course.
Events that have happened recently could lead one to think that deep down inside, Canelo probably preferred to get the victory rightful or not and simply move on with his career.
With the judges scoring the first fight a draw, it all but forced Alvarez and his promoter, Oscar De La Hoya, to have to face the very same guy, they put off facing for two years until they couldn’t anymore in Golovkin.
Then BOOM! Alvarez tests positive for Clenbuterol not once but twice. Putting the fight in jeopardy and maybe deep down saving themselves from an angry and motivated Golovkin, who’s hell bent on finishing Alvarez in vicious fashion, not allowing a rematch to go the distance again.
