Does Joseph Parker really stand a good shot
Is Joseph Parker being overlooked by Anthony Joshua and the rest of the boxing world?
In 10 days we’ll see two undefeated Heavyweight Champions collide, when IBF and WBA Heavyweight Champion Anthony Joshua faces WBO Heavyweight Champion Joseph Parker. Their unification bout has huge significance on the heavyweight division as the winner will hold 3 of the 4 belts, putting them one fight away from possibly being crowned undisputed champion.
Though for a fight of this magnitude there’s not a lot of expectations for a competitive fight. When you look at Joshua you see a gigantic man, who can punch and has very good skills, he’s also been battled tested getting off the canvas to stop former long reigning Heavyweight Champion Wladimir Klitschko.
As for Parker he’s yet to be in that situation, although he’s fought some solid guys in Andy Ruiz, Carlos Takam and Hughie Fury, none of those guys are nowhere near the level of a Klitschko.
That being said Parker should be respected if not for any other reason than because he’s a champion. He has solid skills, a decent punch and confidence going into this fight. We’ve also seen weaknesses in Joshua from a stamina standpoint and him being a bit robotic in his movement, which Parker who I believe is the faster guy can capitalize on.
While I favor Joshua to win, I wouldn’t be shocked if Parker pulled off the upset, this is Heavyweight boxing and anything can happen all it takes is one perfectly landed shot.
