Is Tank Ready To Be A Champion Once Again

Which version of Tank shows up tonight

Tonight will be the night that Gervonta “Tank” Davis puts the rest of the super featherweight division on notice including Vasyl Lomachenko, at least that’s what Davis’s new trainer Kevin Cunningham says.

This is what Cunningham had to say earlier this week about his expectations for Davis tonight to Boxing Scene.

“Tank’s on weight and ready to go. After Saturday night [tonight] everyone in the division including Lomachenko will know Gervonta Davis is the boss!”

I don’t know what to expect from Davis when he steps in the ring later tonight, I honestly didn’t know what to expect earlier when he steps on the scale for the official weigh in but he successfully made the 130lb weight limit by coming to the scale at 129lbs.

For those that don’t remember, Davis came in overweight in his last fight against Francisco Fonseca and lost his IBF title on the scales this past August.

The following night he struggled against Fonseca for majority of the seven plus rounds before finally catching up to his opponent and stopping him in the 8th rd.

Davis, who was on a hot streak and was talked about as a potential formidable opponent for Lomachenko, now has another chance to become a champion and try to get his career back on track.

It won’t be easy, especially if he’s not focused and prepared as he battles the tough power puncher, Jesus Cuellar who only has two losses in his career to Abner Mares and Oscar Escandon.

Which Davis will we see? The one who blitzed through Jose Pedraza and Liam Walsh or the Davis who struggled before getting the knockout victory over Fonseca?

We’ll find out later this evening on Showtime.
